National Testing Services
The Northern Marianas College serves as the official testing center for a range of national testing programs. These include tests for individuals wanting to further their education at NMC and other institutions, such as the following: English language tests needed for college entrance and employment purposes and tests for professional licensing and certification. All tests administered at the College are “paper and pencil” tests, referred to as paper-based tests (PBT).
The tests given at the Saipan campus are the ACT, GRE General and Subject Tests, LSAT, MPRE, Praxis I & II, SAT I & II, SSAT, TOEFL, and PAN(TSA). The Tinian and Rota campuses serve as the official test center for the SAT and Praxis only.
Please note that the GMAT will no longer be offered at NMC. If you are interested
in taking the GMAT, please contact the Pearson Vue Professional Center located
in Garapan at telephone number 233-0216.
Other tests can be administered at any NMC campus, but to do so, special
arrangements must be made by the individual wanting to take the test, both
with the testing agency and with the College.
For additional information and assistance, please contact the following

Test Information and Registration Bulletins
Test information and registration bulletins are available for pick up anytime
M-F, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Career Center, Saipan Campus, which is
located in Building I. You can also request that a bulletin be mailed directly
to you free-of-charge by visiting the test agency’s website. You can make
this online request for a bulletin at any campus. These bulletins contain
all of the information you will need to take the tests.
How to Register to Take a Test
To register for any test, use the mail-in registration form and envelope
found inside the test bulletin. Payment must be included. For some tests,
you can register online (you must have a credit card). Check the official
website for information.
One EXCEPTION is registration for the ACT. You do not mail your registration
form to ACT. Pick up the ACT Registration Packet at the Career Center, Saipan
Campus, and sign up to take the test there. See the registration information
inside the packet. For persons on Tinian and Rota, you can call NMC on your
island and request that an ACT Registration Packet be sent to that campus.
It will take at least one week to arrive.
Missed the Registration Deadline?
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE REGISTRATION DEADLINES FOR EACH TEST ARE THE RECEIPT
DATES TO THE TESTING AGENCY. THAT MEANS THAT THE TESTING AGENCY MUST RECEIVE
YOUR REGISTRATION FORM ON OR BEFORE THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE.
If you miss the registration deadline, check the test website or the information
and registration bulletin to see if late registration is possible. If so,
you will have to pay an additional late registration fee.
Some tests also permit you to take the test on “standby”, that is you can
come to the test, and if there are enough testing materials, you can take
the test on the same day. Tests that offer the standby testing option usually
have an additional standby registration fee.
NOTE: If you are not registered and are planning to take a test on standby,
be sure to confirm this option with the test bulletin or website and with
the College. Bring the completed registration form, payment, and any other
required materials with you on the day of the test. Arrive 15 minutes early
to allow ample time to sign in (see NMC test links for regular check in times).
Test Dates
Test dates are set by the testing agencies, not the College. Be aware that
the College may not be scheduled to administer tests on each official test
date.
As there are a limited number of test dates each year, and all tests have
strict registration deadlines, it is important to plan ahead as much as possible.
As soon as you think you might need to take a test, check to see the next
possible test dates and register as early as possible. Test dates have been
canceled because no one officially registered before the deadline. Please
view test pages for more information on test dates and fees.
Test Sites
Tests administered on the Saipan Campus are always given in Building A or
D. Signs are posted on the day of the test.
On the Tinian Campus, tests are administered in Room A.
On Rota, tests are administered in Room B-2 at the NMC Rota Tatachog Campus.
Can’t Wait to Take a Test?
If you need to take a test sooner than it will be offered at the College,
it may be possible to take it on Guam, either as a paper-based test (PBT)
or as a computer-based test (CBT). For PBT test centers and dates on Guam,
consult the test information bulletin or the test website. For CBT information,
consult the test information bulletin or the test website. The nearest CBT
test center is the Prometric Testing Center located in Hagatna, Guam. For
additional information, contact Randy Jung on Guam at (671) 475-5000, or
consult the Prometric
website.
Computer-Based Testing (CBT)
There is one CBT testing center in the CNMI, the Pearson Vue Professional
Center, which is located in Garapan across from Dollar Days. The only test
given there at this time is the NCLEX. For further information, consult the
NCLEX section of the Pearson
VUE website.
Beginning in January 2006, The Pearson Vue Professional Center will now
offer the GMAT computer-based test.
