Library Membership

Any student attending Northern Marianas College is a library member. NMC staff & faculty are also library members. Members of the public may purchase annual individual ($10.00) or family ($20.00) memberships.

Borrowing, Renewals, & Overdue Fines

NMC students, staff, and the public may borrow books for a period of three weeks. NMC faculty may borrow books for a period of one month. Borrowers are limited to a maximum of three books on a specific topic. Borrowers are limited to a maximum of 10 items at one time. Public members may borrow up to 2 books and 1 (AV) Audio Visual item at one time. Each item may be renewed once. Renewals may be requested in person, over the phone, or by contacting us via the web. Renewals establish a new due date one term of loan from the date presented for renewal. Overdue fines for books accrue at $0.20 per day, Audio Visual Materials at $0.30. per day.

Reference Services

A professional reference librarian is usually available to assist you in locating information. The library maintains an extensive reference book collection and has access to many databases and outside sources. It is always wise to discuss your research project with one of the librarians. Just ask at the reference desk.

Library Orientations

Faculty members may schedule library tours, library instruction in general research skills and the use of the library, and subject level research classes that explore the resources unique to specific discipline areas. These classes can also be further customized to meet students' needs for their research projects.

In addition, the librarians are always happy to provide individual assistance with research.


Books and other materials placed on reserve by instructors are shelved behind the circulation desk. Please inquire for items on reserve for your class. Reserve items are for Library use only.

Interlibrary Loan

Books and journal and magazine articles can be obtained through interlibrary loan. Through this service, library users can have access to materials available at other libraries in the Western Pacific or around the world. Ask at the reference desk for more information.

Copying Machine

A coin-operated copying machine is in the main reading room for $0.15 per copy.


Double-ply, hot process lamination will preserve and protect both sides of posters, certificates or other materials as wide as 30 inches. The charge is $1.00 per running foot. Please request this service at least one day in advance. Inquire at the circulation desk.
